This sales invoice template produces exactly the same printed invoices as the default sales invoice template that is included in the Invoice Manager for Excel installer program. The main difference is that this template support the calculation of profit.
When running a business you may prefer to know the cost and profit, whether you are selling goods or providing services. The default sales invoice template included in the Invoice Manager for Excel installer program does not support this by default (at least at the time when we are preparing this invoice template), which brings many inconvenience for example such as when you are doing marketing plans. This is true even when you are providing service, such as plumbing. The good news is that, adding the support for profit calculation is easy.

If you are interested in the implementation details regarding this invoicing template, read on. You may find that it could be a good sample on adding profit and taxable column to your own invoice template. The following description assumes the circumstances that we are creating this template based on the default sales invoice template. You job may differ, but as said before, you can see this as a sample on adding the profit calculation feature.
The magic of adding profit calculation depends on a powerful feature supported by all editions of Invoice Manager for Excel - Invoice Manager for Excel Standard, Invoice Manager for Excel Net and Invoice Manager for Excel Enterprise, which is called custom fields.
In order to calculate the profit, you'll need the cost figure which is either set the Product Edit form, or entered manually according to the agreement or contracts on the invoicing form when you are creating an invoice. The cost is the amount you pay the vendor for each item you purchased, equal to the "price" listed on the orders you send to your vendors. On the other hand, the price is the amount your clients or customers pay you. On the invoices that you'll send to your customers, whether they are printed hard-copy, or as electronic bill in PDF / Excel / HTML format, the cost figures will not be shown to your customers, since this column is placed outside the printable area. It is designed for your own accounting or book keeping purpose only.
Like the sales invoice template shipped with Invoice Manager for Excel, this Sales Invoice with Profit Calculation contains 5 columns on the invoice body, that are Item#, Description, Price, Quantity and Line Total. If you use Invoice Manager for Excel, the inventory of an item will be subtracted automatically when an invoice is saved - and in the meantime, an invoice# is generated automatically according to the rules you set on the Settings window. The auto-generated invoice# is titled with the label "INVOICE#" on the header of the invoice form, near the name and details of your business or company, but you can changed it to anything like "receipt#" (for creating receipts). You don't have to be a technician in order to make such modifications - simply unprotect the sheet, and then enter the label you like to replace the default text labels. However, if you are planning to create estimates or quotes, note that our invoicing software will subtract the inventory once the document is saved. There are ideas that let you easily overcome this, which will be detailed in other documents here on InvoicingTemplate.com.
